Promoting human dignity is core to our mission
AMJF is committed to promoting the safety and well-being of individuals in their home countries—regardless of faith, gender, or ethnicity—as well as those displaced by human-made or natural crises.
AMJF advances local self-reliance and capacity-building by developing networks of local NGOs, civil society organizations, and academic institutions. While we provide funding, resources, coaching, and oversight, we place a strong emphasis on local leadership and capacity-building as the foundation for long-term program sustainability.
Guided by the proverb, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime,” we believe true empowerment comes from equipping people with the skills and knowledge to support themselves. AMJF invests in lasting solutions that enable individuals and communities to achieve resilience and independence.
The Consortium of Ukrainian and Moldovan Academic Institutions (CUMAI)
The Consortium of Ukrainian and Moldovan Academic Institutions (CUMAI) brings together leading universities in Ukraine and Moldova, together with San Diego State University (SDSU) to address both urgent challenges caused by the war in Ukraine and long-term needs for regional reconstruction. This innovative partnership aims to build dynamic relationships across academics, mental health, veterans’ rehabilitation, business, and cultural exchange, enhancing collaboration among the United States, Ukraine, and Moldova.
CUMAI partners identify the needs within their communities, after which AMJF procures and ships the necessary goods and services. CUMAI members then oversee the distribution and delivery of these resources, ensuring they reach those in need.
CUMAI establishes a collaborative framework to respond to current crises while building enduring academic and professional ties. Key objectives include:
- Educational Reform: Support the shift from Soviet-influenced systems to innovative, US-style models, including public/private partnerships and continuing education.
- Joint Academic Programming: Develop student and faculty exchanges, joint degrees, and cooperative research.
- Strengthening Education: Share best practices in teaching, curriculum, and faculty development.
- Mental Health and Physical Rehabilitation Support: Launch programs to address veterans, student, and staff well-being through sports therapy (pickleball), workshops, resources, and training.
- Business and Entrepreneurship: Encourage joint research, entrepreneurship, and business knowledge exchange.
- Cultural Understanding: Promote language study and cultural exchange initiatives.
- Technology Collaboration: Partner on research in cybersecurity, sustainable energy, and agricultural technology.
- Viticulture and Tourism: Develop joint programs in winemaking and tourism, leveraging regional expertise and SDSU’s hospitality leadership.
- Hospitality Industry Development: Enhance hospitality education and training to fuel post-war economic and tourism growth.
- Further Collaborations: Explore additional partnerships in research, education, and development based on institutional strengths.
Through CUMAI, participating universities are committed to advancing education, supporting recovery, and strengthening international bonds for a more resilient future.

Help people in need
You can make a real impact! AMJF empowers local organizations to support vulnerable communities by providing coaching in capacity building, project development, and supplies and service delivery. Working together, we identify the needs of people affected by natural or human-made disasters and create a tailored “menu of needs” that outlines essential supplies and services.
As a donor, you have the flexibility to choose how you help—by sponsoring specific supplies for delivery, directly supporting local organizations, or making a donation to AMJF for targeted
assistance where it’s needed most. Join us in making a meaningful difference for those in need!
