In November 2022, the American Multinational Jewish Federation (AMJF) arranged for Dr. Linda
Zangwill, a Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego, to conduct a
continuing education seminar series for Moldovan ophthalmologists at Nicolae Testemițanu State
University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Chisinau, Moldova. As part of her visit, AMJF provided
thousands of emergency thermal blankets to be distributed by the university. A few days after Dr.
Zangwill’s arrival, a Russian missile strike caused a power and heating outage throughout Moldova and
